Meet Dr. Sixto Mahecha-Diago, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Sixto Mahecha-Diago is an associate veterinarian with a special interest in exotic companion animals and small ruminants, including birds, reptiles, small mammals, and pet goats. He is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care to non-traditional pets and supporting owners through education and preventive medicine.
Dr. Six earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from St. George’s University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society in recognition of his academic excellence. He completed his clinical year at Kansas State University, where he gained hands-on experience with exotic species as well as goats and other livestock through clinical rotations and through field work in Grenada. He also completed an externship at the Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center in Costa Rica, working closely with a wide range of exotic and wildlife species.
Originally from New Jersey and from a proud Colombian family, Dr. Six is fluent in both English and Spanish and enjoys building strong relationships with a diverse client community.
Outside of work, Dr. Six enjoys making memories with family and friends, spending time with his orange tabby cat Simba, and caring for his red-eared slider turtle, Brandi.
